Meet our incredible Implementation Manager, Adrian King

As an invaluable member of the Gemba team, Adrian King, our Implementation Manager, let us ask him a few questions about his role, his goals and so much more. Let’s get to know more about Adrian in this month’s employee spotlight.

What inspired you to apply for the role as Implementation Manager?

Well, I’d been working for my previous employer for over 20 years and a great deal of that time was spent implementing Gemba and using this as a driver for change. There really were not many companies I would have considered leaving them for, but Gemba and its product was the inspiration behind my decision.

Okay so out of everything what are you most looking forward to? Are there any goals that you’d like to meet?

I’m most looking forward to working with the Gemba team and learning new, fresh ideas, from Gemba’s extensive customer base across a vast range of industries.

In terms of goals, hopefully I can bring my own innovative ideas to the Gemba team, and give them an understanding of the challenges that manufacturing plants are facing in today’s harsh economic climate. It would be great to help the team explore how these challenges can be overcome, by implementing lean tools such as Gemba to drive culture change and succeed to become as competitive and productive within their industry.

There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing people and teams succeed!

Can you describe what a typical day looks like for you?

I’m extremely glad to say a typical day does not exist at Gemba – every day is different. From travelling one day to engaging with our clients to putting together a project specification and solution on another day. It’s so varied and keeps me on my toes which I love.

What does your role entail and what are your responsibilities?

My role involves making sure we deliver projects on time to our customers and delivering a solution that best supports their needs and business.

I manage and support the implementation team which consists of the engineering and continuous improvement specialists.

What have you learnt since joining Gemba Solutions?

Easily the main thing I’ve learnt since being at Gemba is to never assume our customers understand.

Taking myself back to the early days when I started using Gemba and remembering the types of questions that were going around in my head, most likely clients have the very same questions, and it’s important we help and support them with any queries they may have.

Can you tell us what your first impressions of the team were? How have they helped you settle in?

The Gemba team are great, but to be fair I would have expected no less as most of the team I had already had day to day dealings with whilst working with my previous employer.

Although you’re at the start of your career with Gemba Solutions, what’s your favourite part of your job?

The challenges of understanding solutions for our customers, and the out of the box creative thinking that’s sometimes required to deliver and deploy such solutions is something that I really enjoy and have a passion for.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

I really needed a fresh challenge after nearly 20 years with my previous employer. I wanted to be creative and think on my feet, which my new role at Gemba has allowed me to do.

I feel fortunate to have found such a great team to be part of and long may that continue.

We hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know Adrian a little better. We love how he’s settled in and has become part of our team, with a clear and driven mindset for continuous improvement – we think he’s the perfect fit for this role.

Be sure to check out the rest of our amazing team members, rest assured you’ll be in safe hands with Gemba Solutions.
